Now before everyone gets upset, allow me to explain.
A few weeks back I was having a ZOOM meeting with an seniors industry member. We connected through a mutual business acquaintance and were discussing what seniors need. I have certain views based on the families we work with (typically in crisis) and I had stated that 'Hey, Seniors Aren't Sexy', referencing that the business of...wasn't sexy.
The business of aging isn’t flashy. It doesn’t grab headlines, drive viral trends, spark excitement in boardrooms or even have families excited to discuss. The reality is, seniors aren’t sexy—at least not in the way society, government, and industry prioritize their interests.
Aging is often ignored until it becomes a crisis. Conversations about wills, estates, executors, caregiving, and senior housing are pushed aside because they feel uncomfortable. But avoidance doesn’t change reality. The senior population is growing, and with it, the need for services, resources, and forward-thinking policies.
Despite the lack of attention, the business of seniors is an economic force. From healthcare to housing, billions of dollars flow through this sector. Yet, decision and policy makers undervalue its impact.
It's time to change the conversation. Aging isn’t a niche issue. It shouldnt be taboo - it’s everyone's future. The question isn’t if you’ll need these services, but when.
I hate to tell you, but your time is coming - so might as well prepare to be a SEXY SENIOR.
Let’s start paying attention. Have a conversation TODAY!
